Thankful for Netflix and Cable
Thanksgiving was pretty quiet … had a crazy night out at Why Not with the karaoke gang and met up with a friend Simon afterwards. Thanksgiving day I had lunch with Melissa and Dylan at the Ronald McDonald House and that night headed to Karaoke. The biggest news is I finally have Cable again!!! Yay Im back in the real world .. and I am totally addicted to Netflix .. basically you order DVDs online .. there is a monthly fee and they send them to you and you send them back … its so easy … no late fees and they pretty much have everything .. ok no more writing for me I have a TV to watch!!!
Nothing Exciting!!
Not too much to report over the last few weeks, just the usual happening. I went and saw The Departed .. hmm I nearly fell asleep does that mean it was a bad movie?! Have been eating eaps of Tai Food .. went to a Tai place with Josh and then to a Tai place with Anne and Aretha. Aretha and I have done a few shopping sprees and bar hops .. Anne and I have done some halloween shopping. We have done alot of work on the apartment trying to get rid of the bugs and make it our home! Almost there!!! Laurin paid a visit from California and we got to catch up at Overlook. Went over to Tonic in the east side for Nicks bday, a friend I made at the Evanescence conert. But aside from that nothing too much going on! la la la
AFL in Times Square!
Aaron, Anne and Alex and I (I stuff up at not being the A) headed out to the AFL Grand Final party the New York Magpies were throwing at Planet Hollywood. We had a few drinks at Anthony and Elisa’s place .. who live conveniently around the block from me first (I once house sat their now deceased fish Rusty). Even though no teams were playing from Melbourne it is one of the biggest events for the team in NYC .. aside from their ANZAC Day party which I am determined to be at this year. The game was very close at the end and thanks to Rick in the Aussie Mission to the UN I learnt how to enjoy a game .. when your tem isn’t playing! He taught me the ‘waaaaa’ technique .. anybody wants to know give me a shout. We had a Boags beer .. before they ran out and had to switch to coopers .. then we wanted a pie .. they ran out … There were about 650 people there and most Aussies .. and most footballers .. so its understandable that we missed out but still … It did cause a pie search for the rest of the weekend .. and 8 Mile creek was the answer to our prayers Cheers Frank!! (after going to the Sunburnt Cow an finding they were out of pies too!).
They even showed the pre-match entertainment this year .. which was a disappointment. It has really gone down hill since the days I was in it lol .. not just because of me not performing but I think the production company that used to do it stopped. Although it was fun sitting down watching Daryl Braithwaite and singing “Horses” it wasnt the spectacular show with interesting performers it used to be .. the build up wasn’t there. Well done to the winners the West Coast Eagles who won by one point! Lets hope next year we have the Hawkers up there and I will lobby to sing the National Anthem – and Nan I will do it just to the way you like it .. you can even oversee and arrange the performance. Cheers fellers for a top night!

I’m Just Spinning Around … get out of my way (who would have thought Kylie was a New Yorker)
As many of you who live in New York or who have had the chance to visit New York you will understand that it is the city that never STOPS and never runs on a normal time frame .. hence the binding of the two to mean .. the city that never sleeps. My life is one continual fast forward and even it can leave me behind sometimes.
This is a little catch up on life … for June/July/August/September .. the months I missed the monthly email updates..
I have had many visitors staying in the UES Apartment we now call Little Australia … ok so we don’t really call it that but it feels like that somedays. Erin and Peta came and spent 5 days with me .. I was so sad when they left. They had a whirlwind visit and we had a blast!!! From taxi drivers who didn’t appreciate our singing, to me making them fat on American food to seeing the sites I think they had fun! Aaron my Internet friend .. and non psychopathic killer came to stay over September .. a day or week here and there while he continued his exploration of this side of the world. I hope you had a good time! Alex my buddy from the Embassy in Washington DC also came on a whirlwind four day visit and four was the magic number with us out until 4am every morning!!! I had a ball Alex its my time to come back down to Washington DC – only this time please don’t disappear on us again!!!
Dan and the girls, Caitlyn and Paige came over to New York for a few days. I was lucky enough to have dinner with them in Times Square one night and then take them at my lunch break to Dylans Candy Store. Caitlyn and Paige were Kirsty and my best friends in California while we stayed there. They have both grown soooo much and are as cute as ever!! It was great to catch up with you guys .. Kilty the girls promised me an emergency package of brownies … I’m waiting!!! hehe
Independence day was celebrated in America and in traditional style Aretha took me down to Coney Island to see the Hot Dog Eating Contest! It was a scorcher of a day .. a half a million people were there watching. Coney Island is right at the end of Brooklyn and is a boardwalk right on the Atlantic Ocean with an amusement park next door. It is a little dirty but it has atmosphere. The contest was quite amusing to watch and the winner I think ate 53.5 hotdogs in 12 mins!!! We also went on one of the oldest wooden rollercoasters in America .. it was sooo scary .. more because you knew it was all made out of wood. When then headed back to do some shopping and the to the Upper East Side to the East River to watch the spectacular fireworks over the East River!!
I have seen a few movies this month .. The Devil Wears Prada with Anne, Little Miss Sunshine with Aaron and I took Dylan to see Barnyard and Cars (Awesome!!), Thanks to Aretha’s generous birthday present of a DVD player I have gone mad on DVD’s! I got the complete sex in the city collection and another called Extras – funny as anything show from the BBC watch it if you haven’t already!!!
Aretha and I headed to the baseball .. the Mets VS The Marlins … we had great seats thanks to Aretha’s company .. we ate hot dogs .. I bought a Mets hat .. Goooo Mets!!! Ofcourse we have also frequented many nights of karaoke, overlook lounge and cabin fever … but those details will never be on a public blog!!! I think that’s all ….. although I might not remember so you will have to wait for the video.

I am not a reader of blogs so was interested in yours. It seems to have caused you to make a more professional presentation than your email, and I wonder how much more work it takes.. Also given the 4.00 am nights, how you find the time.
To change tack, how are you making out on your life plan. I never had one myself to I can’t say whether they are worth the effort, but my life experience suggests that it would have been a good idea, if I had been motivated to do so 50 years ago. Your life page heading sparked that, so I had better open that up and see what it has to divulge.
Make the most of what you have. Life has several elements and there is not enough time to waste, as you will find out..
1 Work for a living.
2 Work for a home
3 Work for the community
4 Work to improve your ablity to achieve your life’s objectives: which is what you are probably figuring you are doing now.
5 Have fun if you have any time left.
What are you reading?
Please send out an email when you make any additions to your blog, otherwise I suspect only the real afficionados will look it up?
A hug and kind regards.
